Taylor’s self-taught professional career started more than eight years ago while completing his studies at Washington and Lee University in Anthropology. He began in photojournalism embarking on a two-year project documenting college fraternities and secret society hazing rituals. This project recorded numerous acts and rites that have never been photographed.

Driven by his love for music, Taylor’s career evolved into documenting the lives of musicians, proving his ability to quickly adapt to his subjects when so often he is thrust into locations with limited time and unpredictable lighting. His approach is intensely personal and frank, often capturing spontaneous and candid moments of transition and euphoria involving youth culture.

In 1996 he traveled around the world documenting Dennis Rodman for MTV and captured the notorious events at Woodstock. Taylor has most notably photographed artists including Dave Matthews, Willie Nelson, James Carter, Isaac Hayes, Rufus Wainwright, Ice-T, Phish, B.B. King, Mary J. Blige, Moby, Macy Gray, Santana, The Roots, Sting, Jesse Ventura, George Clinton, Kid Rock, and Chick Corea.
