Bio

Founded by Robbie “Motion Potion” Kowal, Silent Frisco is a team of ninjas dedicated to defending the sacred right of human beings to dance in public spaces. With cutting-edge technology, professional production, in-house musicians, djs and visual artists, Silent Frisco is a full-service, full-throttle, fully-realized idea whose time has most assuredly come.

Yes. Silent Frisco uses wireless headphones, and yes, they are custom-designed, two-channel models whose range, sound and comfort blow away any other in North America. But that’s not why Silent Frisco was a huge hit at Harmony, High Sierra, Camp Bisco, Gathering of the Vibes, Sunset Strip Music Festival, Treasure Island Music Festival, SXSW, Camp Euphoria, ACL Austin, High Sierra, Ghost Ship Halloween and Sea of Dreams NYE.

Rather it’s the 15+ years of combined artistic and production experience that Motion Potion and his crack production team SunsetSF bring to every situation. Having produced over 1000 events of their own, the Silent Frisco team chooses their events carefully, schemes creatively, and then works their tails off to make sure that the magic happens. Anyone can rent headphones, but conjuring magic at an event takes years of practice, and Silent Frisco is a coven of wizards, making the impossible, possible.

When the historic art-space, Austin Enchanted Forest was shut down for 3 years after “noise issues”, Silent Frisco helped them produce “Silent City Limits” and “Silent Southby” reviving their spirit, dream and fortunes. When electronic genius Tipper wanted to play to the sunset in California, Silent Frisco brought him to Ocean Beach for a set that melted the clouds away. When festivals like Gathering of the Vibes, Earthdance, Harmony, Treasure Island, High Sierra and Camp Euphoria wanted an additional stage that they didn’t have to manage or worry about, Silent Frisco jumped at the chance: booking talent, coordinating production, staging, tenting, backline, accounting and stage management.

No one in the United States is more passionate about the possibilities of Silent Disco than Motion Potion and the Silent Frisco team. Beginning with Bonnaroo 2006, no American has Dj’d more silent discos and no American is more active in pursuing its possibilities, musically, socially, and politically.

“When Bonnaroo gave me the honor of being the first American, I had no idea how it would change my life, and the lives of so many others” said Kowal “We have a chance, with this technology, to  decisively change the landscape of urban arts culture and push music back into public spaces for good.”
